While most people believe in the concept of justice, there is wide disagreement about what is just. In particular today, there are vigorous debates about the fairness of executive compensation. Come hear an economist, a business ethicist, an executive compensation expert, and a Jesuit social ethicist discuss the conceptual complexities and operational challenges associated with this hot topic. Panelists will include Dr. George Brenkert, Dr. James Wade, Dr. Phillip Swagel, and Rev. John Langan, S.J. Moderated by Dr. Brooks Holtom. Sponsored by Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.
My question is, where do we draw the line for excessive executive compensation. I’m of the opinion that CEOs of large organizations should be well compensated, but when companies are being bailed out by taxpayers one day, and distributing large bonuses the next… something is wrong.
